Redesigning the digital presence of a hi-tech company to bring it closer to its scientific community.

CAEN ELS is one of those Italian companies that play a decisive role in keeping our country’s name highly regarded worldwide, while remaining primarily known within a specialized audience of industry professionals.

Regarded by its stakeholders as a partner of excellence, it counts among its clients the world’s leading and most advanced research centers, to which it supplies a wide range of technological solutions—from magnet power supplies to advanced electronic instrumentation for diagnostics, from high-precision current transducers to complex electronic systems for beamlines in fundamental research.

We were approached to create the new portal which, through a simpler and more streamlined content experience, would provide improved access to the product catalog and highlight the company’s significant research activities and participation within its scientific community.

The client

Founded in 2009 as a spin-off of CAEN Nuclear, CAEN ELS is a leading global company in the design of cutting-edge power supplies and electronic systems, with a focus on developing solutions dedicated to the particle accelerator community (synchrotrons, Free Electron Lasers, medical accelerators) and high-end industrial applications (automotive).

Strongly customer-oriented, it collaborates daily with researchers, electronic engineers, scientists, universities, and top-tier companies around the world to continuously keep its team’s expertise up to date across the various fields in which it operates.

The challenge

Communicating almost exclusively within a B2B community of highly skilled technicians and scientists, CAEN ELS needed to revamp its website from a technological, content, and visual standpoint in order to provide its visitors with the most direct and streamlined digital experience possible.

The goal was therefore to deliver engaging and simplified navigation, consistent with the group website’s look&feel, while also highlighting product strengths within a completely reorganized digital catalog.

The solutions

Thanks to the expertise of our Digital Product team, we designed the UX and UI of the new CAEN ELS website by focusing on a key concept that would allow us to better engage with the client’s target audiences: rationalization.

A rationalization applied at every level—optimizing the content architecture, simplifying the catalog, maximizing clarity and conciseness of contents and messages, and choosing a minimal, modular design that, starting from the homepage, clearly highlights the company’s core focus areas (product strengths, catalog, news, events) through a coherent and functional navigation of the digital touchpoint tailored to the target audience.
