A new Shopify platform to launch the B2C sales of one of the most renowned Italian olive oil producers abroad.

This project is the result of a collaboration between several agencies operating across different regions between Italy and the United States, including Regolo Design. The contribution of Zaki focused on the e-commerce development on the Shopify platform, aimed at selling Colavita food products in Italy.

In addition, the creation of the online shop went hand in hand with the production of SEO-oriented content and the definition of the verbal identity of Olivia, the brand’s new spokesperson and testimonial introduced by Scomunicavs. Immediately after the Colavita shop went live, we also launched a carefully planned and data-driven web marketing activity, structured through social media and Google Ads campaigns.

The client

Colavita is a company from Molise, founded in 1938 as a family-run olive mill. Within just a few years, the brand succeeded in exporting Italian extra virgin olive oil to the United States and, today, it stands as a symbol of Made in Italy gastronomy in more than 70 countries worldwide, with a focus on olive oil and high-quality condiments.

With four production facilities — two in Italy and two in the USA — a strong commitment to promoting authentic Italian cuisine, and a concrete dedication to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, Colavita is now ready to launch its first e-commerce platform in Italy as well.

The challenge

Colavita is a globally recognized brand, yet its distribution in Italy does not cover all regions. Through the e-commerce platform, the goal is to increase brand awareness and market products nationwide. From an operational standpoint, another key challenge was the need to work collaboratively and in a coordinated way with multiple stakeholders.

Objectives

  • Combine commercial performance through the online shop with strengthening brand awareness in Italy.
  • Bring Olivia to life as the new ambassador and leading figure of Colavita’s digital communication.

The solutions

After a thorough initial analysis of the brand, its product range, the market and direct competitors, we focused on the development of the e-commerce on Shopify, an optimal solution for achieving our objectives — particularly in terms of integrating the online shop with various distribution channels, especially social networks.

All the content of the new e-commerce speaks through the voice of Olivia. Through the creation of a clearly defined verbal identity, we developed SEO-oriented copy capable of standing out and increasing brand awareness.

Finally, continuous pre- and post-launch performance analysis, combined with the ongoing management of web marketing campaigns, made it possible to launch Colavita’s online presence and support product sales throughout Italy.

This result was not a finishing line, but a starting point. We are currently working on strengthening Colavita’s online presence by opening dedicated spaces in new digital marketplaces, in support of the proprietary e-commerce platform.
